Do you love your step children or atleast care about them if not why?

I think it all depends on the dynamic. My step-daughter and I are very much alike and clicked immediately. I love her with all my heart. For some people I know it's a little more challenging. My best advice for any step-parent struggling to connect with their step-child(ren) is to remember that you have to earn your way into their world. You may be entitled to basic respect and compliance with the rules of the house, but when it comes to their love and trust, they call the shots.
