How long would regular ethernet cable last outside?

I'm going to be staying at a place for approximately 1 year, and to have internet I'll need to run 100-150 foot of ethernet cable. It will be hung on a pole running between the structures. Would a regular ethernet cable last for 6 months- a year or should I spring for the outdoor cable? (I know its not a good, idea, just seeing if anyone has any experience with a similar situation. Burial is not an option)
