Was it wrong for my dad to kick me out of the house?

I'm 14 years old, and my parents are divorced so I have been lucky to be able to stay with my mom. But the reason that he kicked me out was because I wore a pair of shoes upstairs unintentionally, which is against the rules. Plus he has an alcoholic wife and a stepdaughter who failed 7th grade and neither of them are kicked out. I guess I just don't understand whether or not it was OK or not for him to do that.. I have straight A's and I'm pretty respectful. I just don't understand what the hell that I'm supposed to do because he literally screamed at me to leave and said he didn't want to deal with me anymore over a pair of shoes and now he's acting like it was my choice to leave. Should I distance myself from him, or try to make up?
